Never happened, Magic warp gates were employed and no germs were actually trans-located.
See you in NY Chinatown. To struggle is animal, to overcome is more. |
How common is this vista down the street as you drive into San Francisco, you can't miss it really. Hundreds of commuters everyday driving... Wait what happened here? There are miles of visible pavement on the highway. Space in traffic to move, and dare i say it, we are driving the speed limit! Have we died and gone to, no not possible is this the SF we all know and love/hate? Well delusions of going to heaven and having a normal commute time aside. San Fran is very pretty in the spring and early fall. If you can see that is, for those who don't they have nice people and weather... If you don't upset them that is. Moving on from there, you can always find interesting buildings everywhere you go in this town(s). Which city am I in any any given time appears to be a matter of pride here. Forgive me for not knowing the difference from Daly City or any of the other civic difference, you have so many counties and cities here. | Various overlooks and street views around the bay. |
From the number of Jades and Succulents here is, I'd have to say the plant native or so well adapted to the environment they are everywhere. Gardening here is peculiar. Roses, Palms, Succulents, other dry weather plants mixed with so many varieties of plants you do not see in other cites. I am excited to visit the botanical gardens, next trip. |
Our president in chief's wise words to a troubled Nation. This quality 4 color heavy weight flyers was mailed to my home more than a 2 weeks after the nation was notified and everyone on the internet knew. Honestly I have never felt so safe in all my life. Thank you Idiot in charge.
This fool here made plans in the fall of 2019 to list their house in February 2020, and by the end of March I was officially homeless with money in my pocket. Okay no regrets there, for the first time in a long time I have $ and nothing to do with it. Maybe I can order a steak through Door Dash, Uber or Grub Hub? Truly, I did and it was tasty. No attached Photo, sorry.
Well being homeless, I thought I should look the part and wait for the train at 2 am. Hey that is the only time it stops in Spokane. Truth.
Short nap and a few expensive vendor items later, yes you guessed it, my train arrived and we all boarded, 5 of us: 4 passengers and a Amtrak employee. We all joined 12 or so others already heading to Portland. In complete darkness after getting settled, I got 2 some hours of sleep on the West bound train.
Additional Distancing notes: Amtrak had every other row seating until capacity exceed a certain number. The trains from Spokane to Portland was 2 seating cars and a dining car. With the dual level cars, there was a lot of free space to be alone. Similar was the train from Portland to Salem. However the one from Salem to Oakland was not the same, many more people and some disruptive passengers actually made the trip very different from the last 2 trains. Might have been the day of the week or just was some bad luck.
All the employees had masks and gloves at all time while on the train.
My short stop in Portland Included a walk around the area just outside the Amtrak Union Station. There are still many homeless in the area there, about 40% of what used to be when I last visited the station. Gone are the large groups of dirty, smoking and panhandling packs, now replaced by the quiet tents and smaller gatherings for socializing. On occasion there were the still few asking for handouts.
The few businesses open were choice take out or service at the entry food and coffee places in addition to grocery stores and social and medical related organisations. Across the area I found not quite half of the food places closed also. Jogging, cycling seemed acceptable and were in sparse numbers.
Public transit was running and in most cases the number of riders looked to be less than 25% the average regular riders. The few drivers I spoke with during my travels reacted in good spirits and mood to conversation and were happy to share their daily experiences with me.
Both Spokane, Salem, Oakland, and San Francisco had free bus rides. While the trains in SF still had a ticket price. Last was the fact that during bus transit almost no other conversations between passengers seemed to take place outside of groups.

This photo of outside Spokane library branch on Wellesly st. Spokane, WA. Normally you see a few more kids or job challenged adults here. A lot more. There is a big public pool to the back right. Empty until the CV order is lifted. There were a few runners doing laps at the High-school track and around the neighborhoods. Not many other people, there were 3 adults that might have been homeless, definitely one back-packer at least. Walmart and Safeway behind me remained busy filtering in the limited allowed maximum. These days about the only place you can go and always see people. |
If you had any places you wanted to go only to see how they looked, I think now might be a good time to do just that.
If I had to guess the amount of people wearing masks in Spokane when going to the store or shopping I'd say it was close to 10-30%. Many stores there never had a requirement to enter wearing one. At least until early May when I left. Although most employees were wearing gloves and masks, shoppers were not required to at many places.

Spring will be here soon and with it plenty of bad news. On the other hand seeing my bulbs for the first time was exciting.
Tell me, ever done something completely pointless and for no other reason than to have done so. So pointless that, well you have already done it a couple hundred times, what is one more at this point... So you have? Great, I don't feel so stupid now after all.
December it is and my plans pre-epidemic are to sell my house, yup this I can do. Clean up get things in order finish the kitchen painting, lose anything not worth keeping and of little value. Sell a few things on Face-book Marketplace. Hundred of other little things. Presto four months pass and I feel so unaccomplished! Praise be working 2 hours a day is awesome!
Tell me before hand when during an epidemic everything interesting closes before traveling anywhere cool. My 2 brain cells should have come up with this one beforehand. Hey kidding. I am a super anti social home body. The type who deals with one person at a time and gets agitated when I have to have a conversation with groups. A global stay at home order sounds like heaven on earth right about now. Jackpot, other than all those people getting sick and a self inflicted economic global depression. Sympathies and how can I help?
